Commerce Middle School Celebrates National FFA Week

Students, teachers, and staff at Commerce Middle School celebrated National FFA Week from Monday, February 23-27, 2026. During this week-long festivity, FFA members and supporters celebrated with fun activities, FFA Awareness events, and community service projects. CMS FFA also offered the FFA Week Challenge where 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students and teachers were challenged to earn points throughout the week by competing in a painted rock contest, answering FFA trivia questions, and donating to the Penny War. The grade level that earned the most points by the end of the week would be declared the winner, and the money donated during the Penny War will be donated to the Jackson County Animal Shelter.

FFA Week was a time for FFA members to get more involved in their school, chapter, and community. On Tuesday, a group of students traveled to Helen, GA to visit Anna Ruby Falls for a hike and to get in some outdoor activity time. Wednesday brought on the FFA meeting with the theme: “Bring a Buddy”. Members were encouraged to bring friends who were not FFA members or members who had never attended a meeting before!

Thursday was National Set a Good Example Day, and members of the 6th grade agriculture class visited residents of Highlands Senior Living to interact with them through some quality time of watercolor painting. Friday was an exciting day for members as they got to participate in Leadership Pizzeria where they identified “ingredients” of great leaders, made their own leadership pizza, and played a lively game of pizza box knockout challenge!

By the end of the week, the fifth grade team was selected as the winner of the FFA Week Challenge after they earned the most points from the week’s events.

The 2026 FFA Week Celebration was jam packed with all kinds of events to get students, teachers, and the community involved in FFA activities. The Commerce Middle School FFA Week Committee would like to thank everyone for participating in the FFA Week festivities and donating to the community service project!
