Congrats to this week’s Terrific Tigers! These students were nominated by their teachers for showing the Positivity Project traits- traits focused on students of strong character, integrity, and caring for each other. We will recognize a group of students each week for P2 Traits and all students are eligible. Display those character traits and the next winner might be you!
Basketball Parents & Fans: Just to clarify, the basketball championship games will be held tomorrow morning, January 20th, at Empower College & Career Academy (1952 Winder Highway - Jefferson, GA). The girls will play at 10:00 am and the boys will play at 11:20 am. Go Tigers!
CMS Boys win the semifinal round 53-22 over West Jackson. Both teams will play for the championship Saturday starting at 10 am.
CMS girls win the semi final round 47-23 over Banks County! Go Tigers!
Both CMS basketball teams were in action this evening at Commerce. Lady Tigers won its contest against Haymond Morris, and the boys outlasted Westside. Go Tigers!
Save the Dates!
Current 8th graders will visit CHS during the school day on Tuesday, January 23rd. During this visit students will take a tour of CHS and learn about the different courses they can take.
On Thursday, February 1st, current 8th graders will come to Rising 9th Grade Registration Night at CHS where they will meet with an advisor and sign up for their courses. Students with last names A through M will come to CHS at 6:00pm and last names N through Z will come at 6:30pm.
The faculty and staff of CHS look forward to meeting all of our rising 8th graders!
CMS Beta Club held a service project this morning for MLK Day. Students worked together to help beautify different areas of Downtown Commerce. They worked hard and were good representatives of both CMS and the community!
MIDDLE SCHOOL STATE DUALS UPDATE:
CMS Wrestling Team went 3-2 for the day. CMS beat Lamar Co, Davis Middle and Social Circle. The team lost to Lumpkin Co and Gilmer. Proud of our Tigers!
CMS Wrestling is competing today in the MS State Duals at West Laurens starting at 9 am. Go Tigers!
Boys Soccer practice is cancelled for today. We will resume on Tuesday with tryouts and conclude tryouts on Wednesday.
If you are a parent of an 8th grade student, please review the graphic below about Dual Enrollment options for your student throughout their High School career. Students are eligible to begin Dual Enrollment at the beginning of their 10th grade year if they meet the requirements for the institution. Talk about this option with your child to see if they are interested.
Commerce City Schools will be closed on Monday, January 15 in observance of the MLK, Jr. Holiday.
FCA will meet this Friday morning at 7:20 in the gym. We will have a guest speaker and breakfast will be provided.

The CMS baseball interest meeting for 5th-8th grade students interested in playing baseball this spring has been moved to Wednesday, January 10th at 2:40 in the CMS cafeteria.
No boys or girls soccer practice today. It will resume Wednesday.
Commerce City Schools will be open tomorrow. Student tardies or absences will not count tomorrow. If conditions are too dangerous to travel to school, please stay home. We will continue to monitor weather conditions closely.
Boys and Girls both win tonight at Banks County! Girls won 31-26 and will play for 1st place in the league Wednesday. Boys won 68-30 clinching 1st place in the league and top seed in the tournament! It’s a great day to be a Tiger!
