We would like to congratulate Mrs. Jerbundy Mullis for being named the 2024-2025 CMS Teacher of the Year. We are thankful for Mrs. Mullis and all she does for CMS.
I want our community to know that with the recent events and the senseless act of violence that occurred at Apalachee High School, I feel it is important to reassure our staff, students, families, and the Commerce Community as a whole that we are in constant contact with our local police, local sheriff, and state agencies when we receive any online threats. We have been aware of the many threats that cowards are making towards schools and students, and it is unacceptable. Although we have not found any of the threats credible, I do believe it is vital to our success to investigate each one fully to ensure our most precious resources safety in our buildings. I have requested an extra police presence the last few days, and I am grateful for acting Chief Hicks and his staff for providing many officers inside and outside our schools along with other emergency personnel. Safety is, and always will be, our top priority in Commerce City Schools. I appreciate the outpouring of support from our community, and I know that we will defeat evil by not allowing evil to dictate our focus. Have an amazing weekend and God Bless
Tiger Strong,
Billy Kirk, Superintendent
Commerce City Schools
We are so thankful to Nicholson Baptist for their donation of water bottles to all of our students.
Thank you for everything you do for our kids!
We are extending our fundraiser until next Friday, September 13th. Please hold on to packets and money until then. Thank you!
Teacher Feature: this week's Feature Teacher is Ms. Patty Crumbley! Ms. Crumbley is one of our 5th grade ELA teachers along with being ELA Department Chair for CMS! Ms. Crumbley did an excellent job today with her students practicing commas, doing a read-aloud where students summarized the reading, and worked independently on vocabulary. Ms. Crumbley is originally from Orlando and has been on 2 separate tv shows. She's a thrill-seeker with a love of rollercoasters, zip lining, and kayaking. Her favorite part of teaching ( and her students!) is the daily teacher read-aloud because it bonds the teacher, students, and book together with the act of reading. If you see Ms. Crumbley out in the community please thank her for all she does for CMS and students!
Middle School Basketball informational meetings will take place on Monday, September 9th.
Coach West will be at CMS to meet with any boys interested in trying out at 8am.
Coach Palmer will be at CMS to meet with any girls interested in trying out at 2:30pm.
Commerce City Schools is all clear. We apologize that the voice call was messed up.
Fly a Flag in our Field of Flags this Veterans Day Each flag in the Field of Flags honors a different hero. And behind each flag is a unique story—a story about courage and freedom. A story about sacrifice. A story worth honoring. This Veterans Day, Commerce Middle School students will set up a field of American flags, all to honor local veterans and raise critical funds to support our ill and injured heroes. Each flag is a donation of $10 to represent one veteran—and our unwavering commitment to serving all veterans after they’ve sacrificed so much for our country. All donations will raise critical funds to support Disabled American Veterans (DAV) life changing services for veterans in need and their families. Will you fly a flag to honor veterans? Click on the link below to add your flag to our field today!
