Look at all these Terrific Tigers!
These students were nominated by their teachers for showing positive traits of strong character, honesty, integrity, and respect for all. We will recognize a group of students each week for displaying positive traits and all students are eligible. Students, keep displaying those character traits and the next winner might be you!

Parents,
The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency, also known as GEMA, requires all schools in the State of Georgia to hold Active Shooter Lockdown Drills by October 1st yearly. Commerce Middle School will conduct our Level 3 Lockdown Drill tomorrow, 9/24, at 9:50 am to meet this requirement. In light of events at Apalachee High School in the past month, I understand that this is not an ideal time to conduct the drill. However, we must ensure that our students and teachers understand the procedures in the event of a level 3 lockdown to ensure the safety of all. We also must remain compliant with GEMA and State of Georgia law. School administration, along with the Commerce Police Department, will be conducting the drill with the intent to improve our safety practices while minimizing anxiety about the drill. I understand that not all students are ready to participate in a drill. I do not want to create fear or anxiety in our students. If you feel your child will be affected adversely, we will excuse absences during the time of the drill. I expect the drill to take no longer than 30 minutes. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
Sincerely,
Dr. Phillip Powell
Principal
Commerce Middle School
